About Me
Taking the first step in seeking support can feel difficult, so well done for getting this far. Finding the right fit in a counsellor is important, so let me introduce myself.
My name is Carmen Reid. I have over 20 years’ experience working in counselling, primarily within community Alcohol and Drug services. During this time I have supported individuals through emotional distress, relationship difficulties, anxiety, addiction, life transitions, and challenges around emotional regulation and coping strategies.
My Approach
My approach focuses on helping people better understand themselves, their emotions, behaviours, and patterns, while developing practical tools to navigate life more effectively. I draw from mindfulness-based approaches to support greater self-awareness, emotional balance, and healthier ways of coping.
I understand that many of us were never taught the emotional or relational skills we need to manage life well. Often the coping strategies we develop once served a purpose, but over time can begin creating further difficulties. With support, insight, and practical tools, it’s possible to create healthier patterns and improve overall wellbeing.
I offer online counselling sessions via secure video conferencing throughout New Zealand. If you’d like to find out more, I offer a free 20–30 minute phone consultation to discuss what support you’re looking for and whether we feel like the right fit to work together.
– Carmen.
